Rib-tickling Creative Doodling Game! (Free Bilingual Printables)

I came across this activity before but have never tried it. This time, I knew it was the perfect game for my teaching.

I got this idea from here.

My kids were so excited as they helped create those words for me and enjoyed this hilarious game that produced comical relief while challenging their drawings!

This also encouraged illustrative creativity and humour.

Since it was such a hit, I used this opportunity to create Chinese phrases for learning as well! 打铁趁热.

Basically there are 3 stacks of word cards.

  1. Adjective or Descriptive words (A)
  2. Nouns (N)
  3. Verbs/actions (V)

The sequence goes like this A | N | V

I also included a set of Creative Play of Nouns (CPN) before the set of Nouns (N) for a higher level of creative challenge for the older kids.

This set can be used to replace the Adjectives set. So it goes like (CPN) | N | V

Let the doodles do the talking!

A | N | V

漏水 | 礼物 | 喊着

Water Leaking | Gift | Shouting

My girl drew a leaking gift shouting with a dialogue box ‘Help!’ One can decide what the gift wants to ‘shout’.

A | N | V

Massive | Zebra| Teaching

A | N | V

飞天 | 机器人 | 推 推车

Flying | Robot | Pushing Pushcart

I also included a set of Creative Play of Nouns (CPN) before the set of Nouns (N) for a higher level of creative challenge for the older kids. This forces the child to be thinking out-of-the-box as 2 nouns are combined together to form a new entity.

This set can be used to replace the Adjectives set. So it goes like (CPN) | N | V

(CPN) | N | V

过山车 | 盘子 | 踢球

Roller Coaster| Plate| Kicking ball

This Chinese set was created for my kids.

I have made changes to include the English words below the chinese characters. I did not include Han Yu Pin Yin. You can write the HYPY below the space of the English word if you wish.

You can also print these words on coloured cards for differentiation of the word sets.

I hope this would trigger much excitement and fun in learning chinese with Art!

HAPPY DOODLING!

Disclaimer: I used a translator app for some of the words. If there are any words not translated accurately, please feel free to inform me and I will correct it to the best of my ability. I am not a chinese teacher. This is a personal sharing of what I have done for my own kids.

  1. Hi Angie
Came across your insta and really inspired at the way you teach your kids chinese.
I’ve always wanting to start but been procrastinating a lot 😂
Time to start ! Would you be able to tell me where can I get the 四五快读?
    Thanks so much 🙂

    Regards
    Audrey

    • Hi Audrey, thank you for your kind words! I got this series from a friend who got it from Taobao. If you’re not familiar with TB, try calling popular if they have the full set for sale. I googled 四五快读 singapore and there are several results that you can get from too! Hope that helps?! How old is your child? Feel free to pm me at instagram too. Easier to communicate there. All the best!!
