Austin Power Up Fun (Hols at JB)!

Be warned. You will get a real Blast of photos in this Power Up Fun trip in Johor Bahru (JB)!

This was a Last Minute impromptu trip where we booked 2 days ahead after assurance of some caregiving taken care of at home. It was a trip that restored my sanity from a recent situation.

During this 5 day trip, we went to 2 major playhouse. 1) Fanpekka and 2) Austin Heights Water and Adventure Park.

It is like a kidzania concept indoor playground, just smaller in scale. Nontheless I would say 2-3 times bigger than a normal indoor playground. The above Lasten Ocean ball pit pirate ship zone speaks volumes on the fun level! Kids enjoyed playing with Papa shooting cannon balls fight! For more action view short videos at my Instagram.

Assembly Leikkimokki made the most impression on me. It is a child sized scale pieces of doll-house boards parked ready for your own DIY House! With the help of musclepapa, kids jumped at the chance to decorate their homes. They have all sorts of furniture to keep them busy designing their unique homes. Many of them are made from solid wood.

J had the best of both worlds, making a grand entrance by sliding into his house.

There are many other stalls and shop-house to play trains, satisfy the itchy fingers and transport the young ones into the adult world of firefighting, baking and more!

Lastern Castle is filled with engineering toys like this flowers of clockwork that spirals when they are clicked to each other, the mega sponge blocks for building pleasure and surprising slides. This place has thought of it all, there is also a cafe for parents to chill out in luxury while the kids go wild at play.

Hotel Vistaria

If you have been following us, you would know by now, we are big on budget hotels where we strike a balance of hotels to make the most out of our trips.(as shared in our Bukit Indah Trip)

This time hubs booked Hotel Vistaria through Hotel.com. We had booked 2 rooms total costs RM210 per night.  We were happy and content to have a good-sized bathroom with heater, all the basic services. The best part is the hot and cold water dispenser which means there is no need for boiling our own water and we get to refill all our water bottles in a jiffy.

The draw about staying in this area, is the plentiful of shops and eateries all within walking distance! We were spoilt for choices on which cafe to dine, which local food-fare to indulge in and which Japanese/Korean restaurants to partake! Here’s a list of what we have enjoyed.

  1. Kafe The Toast.

Kids love the crispy and light kaya toast, the golden honey laden French toast, the silky eggs and the Mee Hoon Kuay soup was a flavourful taste!

2. Auntie Lim was where I had my quiet time to do my year’s reflections. I noticed they always have a crowd and discovered they have very interesting menu. The 3 eggs porridge was comforting. I sat there in my own world undisturbed for a good 1 and a half hours and they were accommodating. : )

3. e & y Harmonium is nearby the vicinity. We had breakfast there and enjoyed the pratas especially the Crispy tissue prata. There’s lots of bakery shops around. One is the Moonlight.

The other is Uncle Tetsu Cheesecake. We bought the original and chocolate. Kids liked the light and the low sugar level.

4. Next to the hotel is a chicken rice stall. We had a sumptuous dinner of vinegar pork knuckles, their homemade meatball soup, curry noodles and chicken rice. My naughty hubs made a glum face for me on my rice. ; p

5. The BierHaus was an unexpected luxury Dining. We feasted on the spicy wings, roasted pork, magharitta pizzas and 2 types of pastas. I love the Oglio Olio pastas!

AUSTIN HEIGHTS WATER AND ADVENTURE PARK

Now to Part 2 of our power playhouse!

Despite having a major slide closed, we played to our hearts content! It was my first time joining them in such water slides mainly because mama here is afraid of heights! However, my lil girl has grown taller and she was so gutsy in joining the guys. I plucked up courage and followed suit.

Lastly, we returned to do our ‘ice’ skating which in fact was synthetic ice ground, and we found out only after we entered the ring. We were quite disappointed as it was an awkward kind of walk, stop, skid kind of experience due to the texture of the floor. However, A was totally into his own planet and skated like a pro after some practice. Papa and mama-mia were like the oldest folks skirting around trying to look cool. ; p For more action view short videos at my instagram.

We ate to our buds and bellies content, caught Paddington bear 2, the last Jedi, buried our noses at Harris, shopped to our hearts hilarious, and charged like a bull playing.

Now, back to reality with a difference. A cheered heart and rejuvenated soul!

Have a great holiday of refreshing and reflections!

Am off to spring clean my home now. : )

  1. […] I had no other brain energy to do the rest and could manage only the physical clearing of stuffs bit by bit. Kids were left to their own entertainment and helped clean up their own rooms. It was during the mid hols that I felt the burden wearing me down. Thank God for my sisters’ help, I was able to take the much needed break from everything to Austin. […]
